Interurban 305 Derailed? E-mail

Work on the Interurban 305 railcar is not on schedule and is still being delayed by the Edwards Railcar Company located in Montgomery, Alabama.Efforts to reach the company have been at a stand still due to a disconnected phone, leaving concerned citizens and city officials ready to go and retrieve the car and return it to Corsicana.

The project, according to the contract between the City of Corsicana and Steven Torrico (owner of Edwards Railcar), began in October of 2004, and payment installments were scheduled to be sent out during several different phases of completion with the final two payments to be made when the car was finished and delivered to Corsicana, where it is supposed to be used as a tourist attraction next to the Visitors Center.

Illegal Cock-Fighting Ring Busted Up Near Emhouse E-mail

Navarro County Sheriff’s Deputies staged a joint law enforcement effort Saturday evening, to shut down an illegal cock-fighting ring on NWCR 1145 just west of Emhouse.Navarro County Sheriff Les Cotten said the raid had been planned for nearly a month after his agency received a tip the owner of the property was running the illegal operation.

Adolpho Gabriel Luna, 43, owner of the property hosting the illegal activity, was arrested and charged with Cruelty to Animals, punishable by up to two years in a state jail, or a $10,000 fine.Deputies, Corsicana Police S.W.A.T., Texas State Troopers, along with several members of the Navarro County District Attorney’s Office and Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4, Connie Mayfield, entered the property around 6:15 p.m., Saturday, while the cock-fighting event was in progress.

THIS TATTERED AMERICAN FLAG SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE, but often the case people in general may not know the proper way to dispose of worn out flags.
No matter where Corsicana native Pam O’Hanlon goes she often hears someone say, “Oh, there goes the flag lady,” or, “You’re the flag lady aren’t you.”
It doesn’t bother her to hear the words. As a matter of fact, she enjoys it.O’Hanlon has earned the reputation of being the flag lady after teaching American flag etiquette classes to school children and adults for the past few years.

“I’ve had parents come up to me and tell me how their children learned about flag etiquette from a class I taught,” O’Hanlon said, “and how they have learned something new about the proper disposal of the flag from those very same children.”
