On Tuesday, August 17, 2010, peace officers with the Texas Attorney General’s office arrested Donald Phillips, an assistant District Attorney in Limestone County. Officers served a search warrant on Phillip’s home in Navarro County and arrested him after “discovering several images of child pornography on his home computer,” according to Jerry Strickland, communications director with the Attorney General’s office. “The Limestone County District Attorney fully cooperated with the State’s child pornography investigation,” Strickland said.
On Wednesday afternoon, Limestone DA Roy Defriend confirmed that he had fired Phillips that morning. “He was a talented, hard-working and experienced prosecutor, however, I cannot continue to employ a person who I believe, based on the available information, has committed reprehensible and unlawful acts.
